This advanced model of the MG2120 includes Wi-Fi connectivity so you can print from any computer on your wireless network, automatic duplex printing and copying, and the ability to print documents and images directly from a smartphone. The printer uses Canon’s FINE ink technology to deliver photo-quality printing directly from your own computer. Borderless photos can be printed in standard photo sizes from 4.0 x 6.0″ to 8.5 x 11.0″. For documents, the printer can handle up to legal-size pages. The included Easy WebPrint EX utility makes it easy to print exactly what you want from the web without wasting paper. The utility allows you to collect sections from various web pages and rearrange them before printing. The printer uses a 2-cartridge ink system, making it easy to maintain and replace ink cartridges.
“update-star” Setting up the Pixma MG3120 is easy, though it doesn’t have an LCD screen, so you’ll need to use the USB connection to do the wireless setup (unless you have Wi-Fi Protected Setup on your router). The documentation is excellent and the control panel is very simple: a two-digit LED indicates the number of copies and messages, and Canon provides clearly labeled buttons and LED lights for copying, scanning, and maintenance tasks. There is a Wi-Fi indicator on the front of the device, but there are no card slots and no USB/PictBridge port. Paper handling on the Pixma MG3120 is rudimentary (apart from the automatic two-sided printing function): a front panel folds out to reveal a 100-sheet input area. The output quality of the Pixma MG3120 contrasts with the price of the printer. Photos on Canon’s own paper looked pretty good, despite an unnatural orange tint that was particularly noticeable on human faces. On plain paper, color graphics looked reasonably sharp and text appeared dark and sharp, although grayscale graphics leaned a bit towards purple.
