Its generous paper handling includes two 150-sheet paper trays: a bottom-mounted drawer for plain paper and a rear vertical feed for thicker media. An output area automatically unfolds from the front when you start printing. Automatic 2-sided printing (2-sided printing) saves paper, although it does slow down printing a bit.
“update-star” Our performance in the test was very good across the board. Printing mostly text with some simple monochrome graphics on plain paper, the Pixma iP4820 averaged just over 8 pages per minute on both PC and Mac. With the default settings on plain paper, the text looked a bit fuzzy around the edges. When we switched to Fine mode (which takes longer and uses more ink), the same text looked impressively smooth. Snapshot-sized photos averaged 2.4 ppm on PC; a full-page, high-resolution photo on the Mac took just over a minute to print. Plain paper photos were fine for the odd newsletter or flyer, though they were light and sometimes orange (especially skin tones). Canon photo paper solved all the problems. We also liked the quiet operation of this printer, as some lower-end competitors can be noisy. The graphics are good enough for any internal business use. The only serious flaw I saw in our tests was a tendency to lose thin lines of light colors on a dark background, a common problem with inkjet printers. I did see some minor banding too, but only in default mode. There wasn’t even a shred of tape in high-quality mode. Most people would consider the result good enough to hand over to an important client or client without a second thought.
