All the scanners I have used in the last few years have been Canon LiDE scanners. They work well and are affordable, which is why I use them. As well as doing an excellent job of scanning photos, the LiDE 400 focuses much more on scanning and processing text documents than the previous model, making it much better at turning scanned text into editable text.
Like CanoScan LiDE 300 Driver, The LiDE 400 uses a USB Type-C to Type-A cable, while the LiDE 300 uses the typical USB Type-A to mini-USB cable. Canon’s documentation says that the LiDE 400 cable cannot be used for other purposes, but it certainly can. This cable can be used to charge phones and transfer files. And if the cable gets damaged or lost, you can easily replace it. This scanner uses Contact Image Sensor (CIS) technology for the scanner. This means that whatever you are scanning must be in contact with the glass surface. If the paper is only 1mm away, the scan will be blurry. This scanner can only scan up to a maximum size of A4. If you need to digitize larger, you will need to digitize several times and do the seams yourself. There is auto-switch functionality in the driver, but auto-correction is also applied.
